LA HAVANE, Sept. 14 (Hfrance.fr) - Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry replaced the attorney general who had been indicted against him as a suspect in the assass on Tuesdayinat of President Jovenel Moise, plunging the country into a new political crisis.
Moise was shot down on July 7 when assassins stormed his private residence in the hills of the above Port-au-Prince. The 53-year-old had ruled by decree for more than a year after Haiti failed to hold legislative and municipal elections amid a political stalemate and faced numerous calls for resignation.
His death left Haiti in an even deeper constitutional and political crisis because it only has a handful of elected officials nationwide.
Henry, a moderate politician and neurosurgeon Moses appointed prime minister days before his death in an effort to reduce political tensions, sought to forge a nnew consensus between different political factions.
But the allegations about his possible involvement in Moses' murder now overshadow that.
Bed-Ford prosecutor Claude said last week that phone records showed Henry had twice communicated with a man believed to be the mastermind behind the murder of Moses on the night of the crime .
This suspect, a former Justice Department official whom Henry publicly defended, is now on the run.
Henry rejected his request to discuss the matter as policy and did not respond to the allegations.
This prompted Claude to write to the judge overseeing the murder and murder investigation on Tuesday. ask him to indict Henry as a suspect.

It is not clear if the order is actually valid in as 1987 from Haiti. the constitution stipulates that the prosecutor can only be appointed or removed by the president, a post which remains vacant.

Decades of political instability as wellthat natural disasters have hampered the development of Haiti. Its aid-dependent economy is the poorest in the Americas, more than a third of Haitians face food insecurity , and gangs have turned despans of the capital into no-go zones.
Claude had invited Henry to meet with him on Friday to discuss phone calls with the suspect, noting that he could only summon the prime minister on presidential orders, but that the country did not have president.
The Haitian Citizen Protection Office demanded on Saturday that Henry resign and surrender to justice.
Henry retorted on Twitter that "no distractions, inviteration, summons, maneuver, threat or rearguard action "distracts him from his work.
The Prime Minister announced on Saturday that the principal political forces had reached an agreement to establish a transitional government pending presidential elections and a referendum on whether to adopt a new constitution next year.
The agreement establishes a Council of Ministers under the leadership of Henry.
A constituent assembly composed of 33 members appointed by institutions and civil society organizations will have three months to prepare the new constitution.
The own attempts de Moise to hold elections and a constitutional referendum were attacked for being too partisan, critics calling them veiled attempts to install a dictatorship.
