The next Galaxy Watch from Samsung could be radically different from their predecessors. They would not run on Tizen as they have since 2014, but on Android. The change of operating system would therefore mark a return for Samsung, which was the first manufacturer to release an Android-based connected watch , even before it became Wear OS which will also soon support notifications of exposure to Covid-19 .

Today, Google's mobile operating system equips models like Suunto 7 which is part of our selection of the best smartwatches of 2021 . The switch from Samsung to Android would therefore be a real small revolution in the world of connected watches.
For or against the switch to Wear OS of Samsung connected watches?
Samsung has not yet made its switch to Android official for the next Galaxy Watch. The famous Ice Universe leaker is at the origin of this rumor on Twitter . He simply said:“ Samsung's new watch will use Android to replace Tizen. ”From this short statement, a heated debate on social networks was born . Internet users have indeed very divided opinions.
On the one hand, a Galaxy Watch running Android would be compatible with many applications that are not on Tizen, which is already a huge advantage. These applications obviously include those from Google, including the Google Assistant. A user by the name of "@AndroidPurity" has besides pointed out that "it seems that Tizen's applications are rarely updated. The support for Android applications on Wear OS would therefore be much better.
On the other hand, Tizen profite generally (almost always) has a much better reputation than Wear OS . Many internet users even consider Tizen to be the best operating system for smartwatches. In particular, users like the extensive customization of the experience and the better battery life .
Finally, Wear OS and Tizen both have their pros and cons. Whether Samsung switches to Wear OS or stays on Tizen, there will be some unhappy users either way. We must therefore wait Samsung's announcement for the Galaxy Watch 4 to confirm this rumor. Moreover, this watch could bring for the first time a function of monitoring diabetes with the measurement of the level of glucose in the blood .
