This is a function of textual transfer of voice messages . In other words, it will soon be possible to "read" the voices you receive, without having to put on headphones, earphones, or bring your smartphone closer to your ear when surrounded by people. It will no longer even be compulsory to listen to the message since a tranion will be displayed automatically under the voice.
Note that this function was only spotted on the iOS version of WhatsApp. Forto take advantage of this, you will need to authorize the application to access voice recognition on iPhone. Therefore, the textual deletion does not rest on the servers of Facebook - the parent company of WhatsApp - but rather on those of Apple. It is rather a question of giving access to an API of Apple unloaded in 2016 with iOS 10, and allowing to transcribe the audio in text.
