At least 276 pro-government forces and 78 civilians have been killed in Afghanistan so far this month.
The following report compiles all the significant security incidents confirmed by Hfrance.fr reporters across Afghanistan for the month. It is necessarily incomplete as many local officials refuse to confirm casualty information. The report includes government claims about insurgent casualty figures, but in most cases these cannot be verified.e independently by The Times. Likewise, reports do not include allegations by the Taliban for their attacks on the government unless they can be verified. Both sides regularly inflate the number of victims for their opponents.
Analysis of previous reports refers to "pro-government forces" in order to include victims of US and coalition forces. Because the Americans and NATO are withdrawing, The Times has stopped using this formulation. It will continue to identify militias aligned with the security forces as "pro-government" to differentiate them from independent militias operating in Afghanistan.
