- Projects this quarter include work on funding mechanisms, continuing translation and focusing on community growth
- The long-awaited London hard fork is scheduled for August 4 and is expected to make Ethereum less inflationary and introduce a PoS upgrade
Ethereum.org project route for the third quarter of 2021 has been released. Posted in the Ethereum space at Github , The roadmap describes progress made in Ethereum network upgrades, Layer 2 (L2) projects, developer tools and user applications, among others. It details the progress made in these areas since the publication of the last project roadmap on April 14. Some of the recent updates include:
CLR funding for Ethereum 2 projects
Working on new funding mechanisms for goods public is underway. Potential applications are not limited to the Ethereum network and cryptographia. Part of the message reads
T2 work on launching a CLR.fund to support Eth2 projects on a Layer 2 Mainnet (built on the Ethereum mainnet or layer 1 ) should be finished by the end of this quarter. This work in progress could help the ethereum.org team keep abreast of developments in tools, technologies and techniques in the world of App development.
Translation program of websites
During the first quarter of this year, ethereum.org was available in nearly 10 languages. The goal for the second trimester was to reach over 30 languages. According to the third quarter roadmap report, the website currently supports 35 languages. Due to constant updates of web content, the goal of the third trimestre is to update more than 20 translations that are late. To improve the quality of the work done by the team of over 1,400 volunteer translators, the translation program manager plans to improve support documentation and translation tools.
Growth of the community
The success of the ecosystem largely depends on the many contributors. These can be translators, as seen above, developers, copywriters, designers, and others with hobbyist to expert experience. The community manager has a few initiatives yet to be announced aimed specifically at supporting and empowering the ethereum.org community.
Hard fork coming to London
The ethereum network will be hit hard fork on August 4. Nicknamed the " London Hard Fork , this upgrade is one more step towards the release of 'Ethereum 2.0 which will bring on a more efficient Proof of Stake (PoS) protocol to replace the current Proof of Work (PoW). The update includes five EIPs. The most popular of these are EIP 1559 and EIP 3554. The former should make ETH less inflationary due to its new fee structure which burns some of the fees. This particular proposal met with backlash because of its potential to reduce the incomes of miners. The EIP 3554 should "freeze" the current PoW system before the imminent PoS upgrade.
