Authorities in Los Angeles responded Wednesday to a theft at a Nordstrom site in Canoga Park thati resulted in the theft of expensive handbags, according to reports.
The cheeky heist happened around 7:00 p.m., as people were doing their last-minute shopping before Thanksgiving. A security guard was sprayed with an unknown substance in the face during the incident.
Fox 11 reported that the incident occurred at Westfield Topanga & The Village around 7pm. The report says the security guard should be fine. The five suspects allegedly took off in a gray Ford Mustang.
The robbery sparked a major police response. ABC 7 reported that up to eight expensive purses were stolen in the robbery. A suspect carriedt an orange wig, according to the report.
Earlier this week, a group of thieves smashed windows with a hammer and other tools in a luxury shopping center in town. Officers pursued an SUV implicated in the crime. The chase ended in South Los Angeles and three people were arrested, Officer Drake Madison said.
Last weekend in Walnut Creek, Calif., near San Francisco, about 90 people stormed a Nordstrom lo cation. Authorities say the crowd entered in one fell swoop through three separate entrances to the store.

In reaction toincidents, Nordstrom said it would increase its security measures, telling Fox Business in a statement, "given the recent incidents at two of our stores and incidents in the industry, we are not enhancing our security store presence and the implementation of additional safeguards to keep everyone safe. "
