Wondering how to turn off Facebook Messenger but can't find the option? You're not alone. Facebook has made it a little difficult to disable Messenger without disabling other Facebook services first. Here's how it works.
You cannot deactivate Messenger alone
To deactivate Facebook Messenger, you must also deactivate your Facebook account. There is simply no option to deactivate Messenger without first deactivating your Facebook account.
Deactivating youraccount is different from deleting Facebook. If you deactivate your account, you can reactivate it later by simply logging in. You will not be able to use Facebook at all until your account is deactivated, including Oculus services.
If you want to continue using Facebook as a social media platform without Messenger, you will simply need to ignore it. The best way to do this is to simply delete the app from your device. You will also always be visible to other Messenger users. Your friends will see that you have signed up for the service and are reachable. You can deactivate your "Active Status ”in Messenger settings to hide when online.
How to deactivate Facebook Messenger
