If your mods don't work properly in S ims 4, there are free tools created by the modding community that will help you find and delete files. The process can be tedious, but the best way is to user Sims 4 Studio (a free tool for creating personalized content) and Sims 4 tray importer .
Do mods cause the Problem?
There are a few tell-tale signs that mods are causing problems in your game. If you are using mods in your game, you should still launch and test The Sims 4 with mods disabled after an update . If the game is working properly with disabled mods but something looks wrong after activating the mods, then it's time to dig into your Mods folder.
For example, I downloaded a mod for The Sims 4 University that made tuition more expensive, while forcing certain careers in the game to require certain degrees. It was the Universe costsitaries of mod in addition to its Degree required mod.
After Electronic Arts released a game update, my Sims who were going to university for the second time graduated and lost their previous degrees. At first, I started digging around to find out if the Sims were capable of having more than one diploma, and that turned out to be possible. It was then that I started to suspect that the mod was causing my game to behave incorrectly.
The madness didn't stop there. My university Sims' performance bar suddenly changed, and when I signed them up for their next semester, I discovered that the lessons didn't count, and I had to start the semester again.
This is really common for mods, as they can become obsolete with the latest game fixes. If the game goesctionne when the Mods folder is deleted, then one or more of the mods and / or personalized content have become obsolete and must be deleted or replaced . EA / Maxis is not responsible for broken mods / cc. It is up to individual creators to correct their own mods.
What to do when the mods interrupt your game
The first method is tedious if you have a large amount of personalized content, but it is also incredibly reliable when you try to fish on broken mods in your game. Usually, custom content like CAS (Create a Sim) elements (hair, clothes, etc.) will not entirely break your game because they are not game mods.
If the CAS elements are broken, your Sims may appear bald, naked or slightly disfigured, but this will not crash your game. So we will talk about removing the CAS and Build / Buy elements later. For the insso much, we will talk about the removal of the biggest game mods, like the University mod that I mentioned earlier.
Save your Mods folder
Close your game first, then move your Mods folder to the desktop.
Move your mods back one by one
Method 1: after closing the game client and moving the Mods folder to your desktop, start moving the files to the Mods folder in your game directory one at a time. You should move game mods out of your Mods folder, not CAS or Build / Buy items.
Fortunately for me, I knew it was Zero 's University Cost More mod because it was the only University game mod I had installed. When I originally downloaded his mod, it went into his own folder so that I could easily locate it forread late. This is why it is important to keep the files in your Mods folder organized.
Finally, you will identify the broken mod and you can delete it from your Mods folder. It is a good idea to contact the creator of the mod for future updates and use the MCCC Discord Channel to infer the search for similar mods.
Note: If you follow this removal process, you should start with the most recent mod and step back, if possible.
Method 2: Start by moving all the mods. Create two subfolders in your backup mods directory and move half of the mods to one, and a half to the other (no matter who goes where, just try to split it about equally). Choose one of the folders to try first and move it to your game directory.
Start the game. If the error has disappearedru, the problematic mod is in the other half-folder. If the error is present, the problematic mod is located somewhere in the set that you replaced in the Mods folder. Whichever set of mods contain the wrong mod, you can simply repeat the process again: subdivide the remaining mods into two halves and try each in turn.
