This isn't the first time we've heard of the top secret prototype Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, but on Thursday the German luxury brand decided to put the car even more forward. While the biggest news today is the company's intention to go all electric by the end of this decade (where markets permit), the brand has stated that it will show off the Vision EQXX prototype next year.
This is the great moment for Mercedes. The company promises a range of over 600 miles on one charge, while still keeping the battery size like a compact car. At the same time, engineers are working to reduce battery power consumption in order to bring the kilowatt hours used per 62 miles down to single digits. Huge range and high efficiency would be a great package, these aret sure.
To help the brand achieve its goals, the company called on engineers from its Formula 1 internal combustion engines in F1 cars , but also on hybrid systems that racing cars use to supplement engines. Surely enough brain power will help unlock whatever Mercedes wants to achieve with this electric car.
It is clear that the EQS sedan is just the point tipping point for EV and lux performance targetse of the brand. And the EQS is really impressive, so the Vision EQXX could be mind blowing. It looks damn sexy from the attached dark and gloomy teaser image too. However, there is no guarantee that the concept car will directly preview a new production car. The brand said all the engineering magic for the electric car could potentially find its way into the company's new electric vehicle architectures coming this decade: one for passenger vehicles; one for Mercedes-AMG to build crazy electric vehicles; and one for commercial vans and the like.
"All the lessons learned from this vehicle go into our production cars. It 's our intention here " said Mercedes-Benz at the presentation of today. .
If you needed more proof that the EV revolution has arrived, look no further. Hope the carsAMG electrics still have the same dynamism as their petrol ancestors.
