The question now is to know what approach Apple will take with itsnew products. It is generally assumed that the new iPad will be launched in the coming weeks; while the next update to the MacBook Pro, bringing with it the upgraded and alleged M1X processor named for the first half of 2021, possibly as part of the WWDC 2021 keynote.
The iPhone launch last year may well be the precedent we should be looking at. The family of smartphones was announced a month later than the traditional plan, in early October rather than September. All four handsets saw a phased release until the end of November, likely when there were enough of them to fill the orders.
This suggests that Apple will hold back on new hardware until it has sufficient stock to meet the initial demand, plussooner than creating an artificial shortage in the market.
