A mother testified against his son in a California courtroom Tuesday during a hearing in which a judge has ruled that there was enough evidence to put him on trial for the murder of his former girlfriend.
Victor Sosa, 25, was arrested by Mexican authorities in July in connection with the murder of Daisy Delao on February 23. The 19-year-old's body was discovered behind an apartment complex in Compton where she lived with her family.
Authorities suspected Sosa had been stabbed. He pleaded not guilty to first murder degree .
Policede Rosarito, a popular resort with American tourists just south of Tijuana, arrested him following advice from the public, many of whom have used TikTok to track him down. Sosa reportedly worked at a popular bar under a different name. He finally admitted who he was, authorities said.

Her mother, Claudia Gutierrez, shed tears as she sat on the bar. witnesses Tuesday, KABC-TV reported.
"What did you ask her? " a prosecutor asked about the last time she saw her son.
"If he did it "replied Gutierrez. "If he committed a crime.
"He just bowed ", she said.
She said she told her son to do the right thing and surrender. A 13-year-old boy also testified that he saw Delao standing still on the ground the night he died. Sosa walked around her, he said.
Sosa's lawyer asked the boy if the person he saw was wearing a mask or hoodieche, the news output reported. Delao's grandfather said he saw Sosa peek through their window a few minutes before his granddaughter was supposed to meet him.
"He took part of my soul and I can never get it back until I find it at again, "Delao's mother, Susana Salas told the news station.
Sosa was caught, in part, by an army of internet detectives after Delao's friends reported posted images of Sosa on TikTok and Instagram. A tip related to this helps facilitate his arrest, authorities said.
"I hope he remembers my daughter's face every minute of his life," Salas said on Tuesday. "I hope he rots in jail and doesn't hurt anyone else.
Sosa is in prison.u in Los Angeles County Jail on $ 2 million bail. His next court date is September 21, according to prison records.
