Or maybe you have a job interview to attend, but instead of sleeping early and waking up fresh, you end up playing until 3 a.m. and barely make it to the event or even miss it altogether. It is also resistance. If you've ever ditched a board halfway or deleted a draft of a story you're writing, these are also examples of resistance in action.
So what are we doing to overcome the resistance? Here are some ideas to help us do just that.
Recognize the brain of the lizard.

When you can see this happening, you can label your lizard brain thoughts after what they are. You will be able to differentiate them from your more rational thoughts and learn to reject negative thoughts. Start with awareness and you are on your way to overcoming resistance.
Use rational thinking.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself in the face of resistance:
• Am I thinking of extremes? Suppose you are planning to start a business. If you are worried that your business will fail and you will never recover, this is thinking of the extreme. You may run into financial difficulties if your business doesn't take off, but the resistance will make you think you'll never be well again - too negative a feeling and probably imprecise.
• Am I generalizing? When changing careers, resistance would make you believe that the market is vicious and unwelcoming. It is undeniable that it is difficult to find new ejobs, even in the best of times. But we often focus on the negative and paint the whole thing with one color. Checking to see if you're overgeneralizing can end resistant thinking.
• Do I have to demand specific results? Resistance can hold you back as you set your sights on specific goals and outcomes without making any compromises. For example, a young person wishing to be admitted to a specific university is closed to think of other places.
Watching your fears and your skills singing what they say with realistic scenarios is more rational than thinking than accepting resistance at face value. With practice, you will become able to recognize unnecessary thoughts and counter them.

In such moments, it helps to forget about the bigger goal and keep moving towards the smaller ones. It might even be as mundane as sending a tweet that you know no one will see or sending your resume to another company.
Small steps add up and eventually you 'll hit your goal no matter what the brain resistance of the lizards tells you.
If you don't encounter any internal resistance, then you are probably not challenging yourself in your professional career. The urges to play it safe, procrastinate, ignore your instincts, or refuse an opportunity are feelings that arise naturally when you try to step out of your comfort zone.
As hard as it can be to cope with resistance, it is something you must do in order to grow in life. With awareness, rational thinking, and effort on your part, you will face and overcome unnecessary thoughts to achieve your goals.
