Credits Einova A charger that disinfects. The idea might have sounded original some time agos years, but in a world ruled by the coronavirus, she promises to speak to all the hypochondriacs we have become. No wonder then that the Mundus Pro from Einova was a huge success during the launch of its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, with more than 450% of funds raised and nearly 365 contributors. The object's promise is simple, to offer a fast charging hub (wired and Qi) while making it possible to disinfect any small everyday object. In times of a global pandemic, it is difficult to do better.
Design and finishes
While the functions of the Mundus Pro are resolutely practical, Einova has no forgot to turn it into an elegant object . With its compact size of 19x19x5cm in lacquered white, the device has the merit of not being obvious to the eye, and of adapting to almost any environment. On the design side, it's almost flawless, with meticulous finishes , and a coating that has the good taste not to catch dust. Note, however, that some details are missing. Given the level of standing displayed by the product, we would have liked, for example, to find resistance and a safety click when closing the box.
An all-in-one charger
First promise made by the Mundus Pro, the possibility of charging up to three devices simultaneously. this level is flawless. We thus find two supportsof 10W wireless charging by induction, as well as a possibility of additional charging, this time in wired 18W via a USB-A socket located at the back of the 'apparatus. It is thus possible to charge not only your smartphone, but also up to two accessories, such as a smartwatch or headphones. On the connectivity side, wireless allows the Mundus Pro to play minimalist, with a simple power outlet located on the back, next to the USB-A port.
Quick and efficient disinfection
If the Mundus Pro stands out as a very good daily charging hub, it is under the hood that it stands out from competition. Inside its disinfection box, there is a sterilization tank capable of accommodating all the small everyday objects , which often turn out to be a nest of microbes: keys, smartphones, jewelry , pacifierschildren, credit cards… Everything goes. Enough to calm our hypochondria, and act as a disinfection airlock when we return home after a day outside.
To start the disinfection cycle of the Mundus Pro, simply place objects inside its compartment, and press the touch button on the front panel. Thanks to the two broad spectrum UV-C lamps as well as the four UV-C LEDs , the device promises complete disinfection in just eight minutes. To ensure maximum efficiency, the interior walls feature a textured titanium dioxide coating, specially designed to boost lamp efficiency. No need to flip your smartphoneduring the cycle therefore, Einova promises us complete disinfection from all sides. Once the cycle is finished, the indicator light comes on, and several beeps invite us to retrieve the objects.
Without really changing life, the Mundus Pro is finally quite reassuring , to the point of becoming a habit like any other… provided it is placed in a strategic location. Obviously, it is not possible to see the result with the naked eye. To convince us of the effectiveness of its product, Einova therefore released the heavy artillery, covering its Mundus Pro certification s of all kinds: from the independent American laboratory Insertek, from the very official EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), and even SGS, whose mission is to control existing certifications. In the end, the device promises us to kill up to 99.99% of germs , microbes and bacteria present on our objects.
Price and availability
Launched on November 30 after a successful campaign on Kickstarter, the Mundus Pro is today 'hui accessible on most e-commerce sites, for an advertised price of 149 € . A price that remains a little too high in our opinion. Although the device is not lacking in features or official certifications, many competing brands now offer similar products for much lower prices. For smaller budgets, it will always be possible to turn to the classic model; accessible at € 99.90, but which inevitably offers fewer features.
