United States Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has said he disagrees with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's decision to ban "almost all coronavirus vaccine mandates in the state .
This is because the move will affect children in public and private schools across the state, some of whom are not yet eligible to be vaccinated themselves.
"Yes, I think the governor is absent, " Cardona told CNBC's Sharon Epperson in an interview on Tuesday. "This is why our Civil Rights Bureau is investigating how these actions could potentially discriminate against students 'rights to public education. "

Gov. Abbott a "published the broad decree on Monday volunteering for people eligible to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in Texas. The Ministry of Education in August launched civil rights investigations in five states - Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah - which had banned mask warrants, questioning whether such measures discriminate against children with people with disabilities likely to be more likely to be hospitalized with Covid-19. She opened an investigation against Texas for "the same motive in September.
" It 's horrendous that we are talking about debating whether or not to not protecting children, "Cardona said. "We know the science; we know it spreads more easily when you don 't have masks on. We know vaccines save lives.
Cardona noted that hospitalizations of Children due to Covid-19 have been higher in places where it is forbidden to wear masks and get vaccinated. It also puts the teachants and their families in needless danger, he said.
"Protect our educators and honor them by saying that we will protect your workspace by demanding what we know that works " , did he declare. "It 's so basic.
