President Biden celebrated "Coming Out Day " on Monday with a statement expressing love and acceptance of LGBTQ people and attacking state lawmakers for proposing and passing "discriminatory " and "anti-LGBTQ + bills. " Conservative groups that support these bills have fought back, one group accusing Biden of engaging in "blatant bullying " with his statement.
In his statement, Biden expressed support for those who identify as LGBTQ and celebrated his administration's moves on these issues, including the many people named by Biden who identify as LGBTQ. Yet he also attacked lawmakers who support bills Biden attacked as "anti-LGBTQ + " and "discriminatory," thes relating to the "bullying and harassment " that LGBTQ people face.

"Anti-LGBTQ + bills are still proliferating in state legislatures. Bullying and harassment - especially of transgender young Americans and LGBTQ + people of color - still abounds, diminishing our national character, Biden wrote . "We must continue to stand up against these acts of hate and stand up for the rights, opportunities, physical safety, and mental health of LGBTQ + people everywhere.
"Defeating discriminatory bills when the equality law is passed, we still have work to dowhat to do to ensure that every American can live free from fear, harassment and discrimination because of who they are or those they love, "said the president.
Garrett Bess, vice president of Heritage Action, a conservative organization that opposes equality law, condemned Biden's rhetoric as an act of intimidation.
“This is yet another example of President Biden choosing to side with left-wing extremists,” Bess told Fox News in a statement. “He used his Department of Justice to prosecute Texas lawmakers who fought to protect unborn children whose hearts are already beating and launched politicized lawsuits calling voter identification laws "racist". Now he is attacking state lawmakers and forcing his radical views on states that do not agree with his so-called "equality" law that would endanger women and girls and pwould deprive parents of the opportunity to help their children make important decisions in life.
CHRISTIAN RIP PSYCHOLOGY STUDY AFFIRMING LGBTQ ACTIVISM DOESN'T THREATEN CHRISTIANS
"States should resist these attempts blatant intimidation and continue to fight the increasingly sweeping takeovers of the Biden administration, "he added.
Greg Baylor, Senior Counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian law firm that drafted laws designed to prevent men from competing in women's sports and which defends religious freedom, also rebuffed Biden's comments.
"Every person should be treated with dignity and respect. Our laws should protect the constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of every citizen, no matter who they are ", aBaylor told Fox News. "Sadly, coercive sexual orientation and gender identity laws, like the Equality Act, undermine both fairness and liberty, targeting those whose government don't like opinions.
"Disagreement is not discrimination. From day one, the Biden administration made it clear that this would deprive female athletes of fair competition, ignore women's unique health needs, and force vulnerable girls to share intimate spaces with identifiable men as being women. It's not equality, "Baylor argued. " Laws that flatten or ignore all differences between men and women hurt us all. "
Jennifer Bauwens, former trauma clinician and current director of the Centerfor Family Studies from the Family Research Council, a Christian organization that opposes equality law, argued that helping LGBTQ people may mean something different from what Biden suggested.
CHRISTIAN LEADERS SLAM LUTHERAN NAME TRANSGENDER BISHOP: A 'REVOLT ' AGAINST GOD
" 'Standing up to protect opportunities, physical safety and the health safety of those who identify as LGBTQ means a lot more - and something completely different - what President Biden thinks it means, "Bauwens told Fox News. She cited studies concluding that the rates child abuse are exceptionally high among those who identify as LGBT, and those who identify as transgender in the face of rate of depression and anxiety two to three times higher than the population general.
"There is no strong evidence to support the claim that people with the deep pain of gender dysphoria benefit from the mental health of this person on a lasting basis. which is offered in most gender clinics - removing healthy sex organs and body parts or using puberty blockers and hormones "she added.
Bauwens suggested a more cynical explanation of Biden's views.
"Those who will benefit from these 'solutions " are the surgical and pharmaceutical industries, which are expected to experience strong growth over the next ten years, "she argued. " Those who identify as LGBT deserve better than political platitudes and real blockades.tables therapeutic innovations and therapeutic options. "
