Squid Game - a fictional drama from Korea Southeast Netflix 's biggest series at launch, the streaming company exclusively told CNN on Tuesday. The dystopian series, in which badly needy contestants play deadly kids games to win cash prizes, has been viewed by 111 million accounts since its debut on Netflix on September 17. To give that number in some context, Netflix announced earlier this year that 82 million households were watching Bridgerton within the first 28 days of his debut at Noël. Squid Game exceeded that number in less time. The series is # 1 on Netflix's Top 10 lists in 94 countries around the world. This is the very first Korean series of the platform to reach number 1 in the U.S. The numbers speak for the size of Squid Games ' popularity and the speed at which it took off. But the rating data for Netflix - and all streaming services '- comes with a few important caveats. Learn MoreFirst of all, these numbers come from Netflix ( NFLX ) itself and have not been verified by any outside source. Plus, that 111 million figure doesn't mean everyone watched the series from start to finish. It is based on the mNetflix's cackle of accounts watching at least two minutes of the series.
