Microsoft Expression Web - Validate Pages
In this chapter we will learn how to make sure that both our HTML and CSS code are valid. Microsoft Expression Web provides several ways to check your Web pages for code errors and code incompatible with a particular HTML and CSS schema.
Status bar and Code view alert you to code errors and incompatibilities in a single page, while the task pane Compatibility lists all code errors and incompatibilities in one or more pages, or an entire website.
Expression Web identifies incompatible code using a document schema based on the DocType declaration in a page.
If the page does not contain a DocType declaration or DocType is not recognized, Expression Web uses a secondary schema .
When you create a siteand work on its pages, you must develop a habit of posting pages. Microsoft Expression Web has various tools that can be very useful when validating your web pages. there are two options in expression web, so let's go to the menu and select the page editor option.
The General tab offers two options -
Highlight Invalid HTML - This option, when checked, will display invalid HTML in a specific color scheme and the default as red text on a yellow background .
Highlight incompatible HTML - This option, when checked, will display a wavy underline below code that doesn 't is not compatible with HTML standards.
When the current and open web page contains a code error, vous then get a Code error detected icon (highlighted in the following screenshot).
Suppose you forgot the ">" symbol in a
