Microsoft Visio - Inserting Hyperlinks
In this chapter, we will learn how to create hyperlinks to websites, files, and pages .
To insert a hyperlink, first create a text box by going to the Insert tab in the ribbon and drawing a horizontal text box for the text that represents the hyperlink such as "Website" or "Click here to visit us". This text should now be converted to a hyperlink.
To do this, select the text in the text box and again in the Insert tab. Click Link to open the Hyperlinks dialog box.
You can specify links to websites or a local file on your computer. Click OK to convert the selected text to a hyperlink.
You can directly create a hyperlink to a text or a shape to a file. Double click on the text or shape to open the hypertext file. The procedure is similar to a website hyperlink.
Select the shape or text for which you want to create a hyperlink and click the Link button in the Insert tab of the ribbon.
In the Hyperlinks dialog box, click Browse… next to the Address field and click Local File… to browse to the location of the file.
Make sure that the Use relative path for hyperlink check box is selected to ensure that the file path is updated automatically when you change the file location.
Visio also allows hyperlinks to pages in a multi-page document so clicking on the link will take you directlyment to the linked page.
To create a hyperlink to pages, select a text or shape to link and click Links on the Insert tab of the ribbon. In the Hyperlinks dialog box, be sure to click Browse… next to the Sub Address field. Select the destination in the Page field. You can also set a default zoom level in the Zoom drop-down menu so that navigation to the linked page opens it with the desired zoom.
Click OK twice to set the hyperlink.
