WASHINGTON, October 14 (Hfrance.fr) - The United States, during this week's talks, has clearly expressed its opposition to Israel's construction of Jewish settlements on theoccupied land that Palestinians want for a future state, a senior Israeli official said Thursday.
Asked if the US side raised the issue during the visit from Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, who met with US Secretary of State Antony Ben and other senior officials in Washington, the Israeli official told reporters: "Yes.
"They raised the issue, and not in a 'Good job, guys, go ahead ' " said the manager, who spoke under cover of anonymity.
President Joe The Biden administration has stressed that it opposes further expansion of Jewish settlements. Most countries consider these settlements illegal. Israel disputes this.
A senior official in the Biden administration said this month that Israel is well aware of theadministration's perspective on the need to refrain from actions that could be seen as "provocative" and undermine efforts to achieve a long elusive two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians .
