Image Comics has released a preview of some inside pages from writer Donny Cates and artists Geoff Shaw and Dee Cunniffe 's mysterious title belonging to creator Crossover. And right from the start, they're setting the stage for anything in this world to be possible - including calling out one of the world's most recognizable superheroes.
"Who is more real? Us, or Superman? " asks the storytelling of the pages, checking out the name of DC's iconic superhero. In the world of Crossover, comic book superheroes have entered a world that mirrors our own, causing havoc and questions of existential crisis.
"Is it always cool to walk down the street with a Superman shirt in a world like this? Cates asked when the series was revealed at the Comic-Con International: San Diego online event earlier this summer.
"The book is called Crossover for a reason, " Cates explained, revealing that the main character is a ban retailer.Direct Market comics - and that issue # 6 will contain what he calls an "historical " comic strip sequence related to this idea.
Beyond its one-of-a-kind concept, Crossover, apparently required the creation of some new visual ideas - things Cates says he has never seen in a comic book before - to show it off. interplay of multiple realities in a striking way.
As for what pre-existing characters will appear, Cates can't tell - but tentatively hints that some recognizable Image Comics characters may appear. Given the images of Mike Allred 's Madman, Cates, and Shaw ' s God Country, and others appear on the cover of the Crossover # 1 variant - not to mention the textual Superman Name Check - he may be clues as to what's to come.
The # 1 crossover is due out on November 4.
