Alanis Morissette took her distances from what she describes as a "dirty " new movie, in which she appears to have been sexually exploited by five men when she was 15.
The singer said she was okay with participating in an HBO film celebrating 25 years of her classic album Jagged Little Pill.
However, the film, which also addresses the alleged incidents, "is not the story that I acceptedto tell ", she added.
The director of Jagged has yet to respond to the singer's comments.
In her statement, Morissette said that 'she was suffering from postpartum depression at the time.
"I agreed to participate in an article about the celebration of Jagged Little Pill's 25th birthday and was interviewed for a very vulnerable period (while I was in the middle of my third postpartum depression during confinement), , the 47-year-old said in a statement.
" I was rocked in a false sense of security and their dirty agenda became evident as soon as I saw the first cut of the film. It was then that I knew our visions were actually painfully pervasive.
"This was not the story I agreed to tell, " she continued. "I sit here and feelNow feel the full impact of trusting someone who didn't deserve to be trusted.

The sCanadian tar then confirmed that she had chosen not to attend any event around the film, on the one hand because she is currently on tour, and on the other hand because she thinks that the movie "includes implications and facts that are just not true ".
"While there is beauty and some elements of accuracy in this / my story to be sure - I ultimately won't support someone else's reductive view of a story far too nuanced for them to grasp or tell. "
Tuesday, before the publication of the new statement, the director of the film Alison Klayman told the Washington Post that it was " a privilege "to make the film and that she was " really proud of it.
"J 'hope there will be other opportunities in the future for her to come to film events ", ashe declared.
La Hfrance.fr asked Klayman for further comments in light of Morissette's last statement.

According to the Washington Post, the film sees the singer talking about being exploited sexually by anonymous people within the music industry at the time - a subject she had previously touched on in the lyrics of one of her songs, Hands Clean.
The legal age of consent in Canada is 16, whereas it was 14 when Morissette was a teenager. the law states that even if both parties are past the age of consent, one should always consider whether the relationship involved an abuse of power or trust.
"It took me years of therapy for same admeto be that there had been some kind of victimization on my part "says Morissette in the movie.
" I always said I was okay, then I was called back as 'Hey, you were 15, you ' re not consenting to 15. Now I'm like "Oh yeah, they're all pedophiles. It's just legal rape.
"I've told a few people that and it kind of fell on deaf ears, " she said. "It would usually be a while standing, out of the room.
