Destiny 2 and all its expansions will be playable on PS5 , Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S from December 8, Bungie announced today.
With Destiny 2: Beyond Light launches on November 10, right next to the Xbox Series X and just two days before the PS5, many gamers have wondered if the next-gen version of the game will also arrive in November. In the end, it was just a happy accident; The delay for Beyond Light just happened to push it into the vacation console window, but Bungie needs a little more time to prepare for its next-gen release.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X / S version of Destiny 2 is worth the wait, however. Bungie previously confirmed support for 4K / 60FPS, but it just described the full range of upgrades offered by the new consoles. More importantly, the next-gen version will have a field of view slider, which has been in high demand since Destiny 2 arrived on PC and players have realized how beneficial a higher FOV can be. This will be joined by free next-gen upgrades and cross-gen multiplayer (both in the same family of consoles), as previously announced.
The studio also pointed out that "there will be some notable improvements to things like loading the game and inspecting character inventory. However, some load times depend on networking. and matchmaking, so loading activities takestime while you search for opponents. "
The details of the new Xbox Series S here are especially valuable. Since this is the weaker next-gen console, gamers understandably weren't sure how it would compare to the Xbox Series X when it comes to Destiny 2. Bungie says the only real difference is its resolution; the S series will play Destiny at 1080p / 60FPS, while the X series will support 4K / 60FPS. Both Xbox consoles will offer the same FOV sliders and loading improvements.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light changes and improves the introduction of the mission game to help welcome new players .
