In just a few hours, Epic Games and Apple sparked a massive feud over Fortnite's position in the App Store, and the former seems to have prepared for this battle. Check out the new short film below, titled "Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite ", which premiered in Fortnite Party Royale at 4 p.m. ET today on August 13 .
Fortnite is coming really for Apple's neck by mocking a vintage Apple commercial titled "1984 " which depicts a Macintosh computer coming to save mankind from compliance (AKA Big Brother). The video ran alongside the filing of legal documents by Epic against Apple. Part of the document - which Epic sharedstraight to Twitter - is a clear call to the 1984 : "Apple has become what it once denounced: the monster seeking to control markets, block competition and stifle innovation ... Epic is bringing this lawsuit to end Apple's unfair and anti-competitive actions that Apple takes to illegally maintain its monopoly. "
Like GamesRadar reported earlier today, it all started when Epic announced a new disaster side payment option on mobile phones that would allow it to lower the prices of V-Bucks by bypassing fees collected by both Apple and Google. "Currently, when using Apple and Google payment options, Apple and Google perceivehave a 30% fee, and the price drop of up to 20% does not apply, "Epic explained on its official website . "If Apple or Google reduces their payment fees in the future, Epic will pass the savings to you. " In response to the option to buy V-Bucks directly, Apple has removed Fortnite from the App Store, and now we are. You can bet the two companies aren't finished either.
