THQ Nordic has released the first gameplay sequence for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. The RPG remaster supports three different paths to heroism, and this trailer focuses on Finesse.
Choosing Finesse will unlock the most popular weapons.in-game narratives - daggers, bows, and Fae-Blades - as well as more devious options like traps, bombs, and poison. This is the life of the hunter and the thug, familiar to anyone who has followed RPGs since D&D was invented.
Actually, there is a pleasant familiarity with Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning as a whole. It is reminiscent of an RPG era defined by Dragon Age: Origins - brightly colored but bloody worlds in which you could be sure to get a critical hit by sneaking behind an enemy.
The original game was released by EA and brought in some expensive talent - namely Drizzt Do 'Urden RA creator Salvatore, comic book celebrity Todd McFarlane and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, senior designer Ken Rolston. Kingdoms of Amalur rated fairly well - we said " combat is stronger than Skyrim from afar, and the world feels more alive than games like Fable ”. But you won't find it on any Best RPG lists , so this is an unusual choice for a remaster.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be released on September 8 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The brand new Fatesworn extension may be more interesting. scheduled for release next year.
The original game developer, Big Huge Games , laid off all of its staff in 2012. It has since been revived by co-founder Brian Reynolds, but does not appear to be involved ins the Re-Reckoning.
