John Ridley's The Other Dc Universe Story gets a new release date and artists

The Other History of the DC Universe, the long-awaited limited series for mature readers of John Ridley, is back on schedule, mais with a whole new artistic team.

Originally announced in 2018 for debut later thisIn that year, the five issues The Other History of the DC Universe is now slated for release on November 24, with new issues released every other month.

'Cammo ' Camuncoli, Andrea Cucchi and Jose Villarrubia will now illustrate the series, replacing Alex Dos Diaz initially announced.

What stays the same is the goal: Black Lightning and other DC heroes of color share their take on iconic moments in DC history . This series comes one month after the scheduled end of the current Batman and the DC Outsiders series with Black Lightning.

"This Five -The Series reframes iconic moments in DC history, exploring them through the eyes of DC Super Heroesrepresenting traditionally disenfranchised groups, "reads DC's deion of the series. " The series centers on the perspectives of Jefferson Pierce, aka Black Lightning; his daughter Anissa, also known as Thunder; Mal Duncan (Herald) and his wife, Karen Beecher (Bumblebee); Renee Montoya (the question); and Tatsu Yamashiro (Katana). "

DC defines this as " true story "of its superhero universe, but it's unclear whether this will be a throwback to previous events or more on new perspectives.

"Following the sequel to American Way, I was eager to tell a different story in the DC Universe, one that shines a light on the heroes who operate outside the mainstream culture, " says Ridley in a press release. "Given the events of the past several months, I don't think there has been a more urgent need to see the world through a variety of lenses and perspectives.

While Ridley doesn't address the replacement for original series artist Alex Dos Diaz, he does say the new art team has put "years of work " in this series.

"I deeply appreciate DC, Cammo and Andrea,as well as all of the craftsmen who have literally put years into these stories, "he continues. " I am very excited to have the opportunity to share this series with longtime DCU fans and a new generation of readers who I hope will feel invited and encouraged to participate. "

Camuncoli (with Marco Mastrazzo) and Jamal Campbell will design the covers for the series.

Ridley's screenplay for the 2013 film 12 Years a Slave won him an Oscar, and he went on to create the American Crime TV series. The Milwaukee-born writer made his debut in the comic book in 2004 on DC Authority, and went on to create an original superhero series The American Way. In 2018, Blumhouse Productions opted for a film that Ridley would write and direct.

The DC Alternate History of the Universe # 1 (of 5) goes on sale November 24. Look for DC 's full solicitations for November 2020 later this month.
