The pride of a zoo's lions must be moved to a larger zoo in the midst of a "very difficult " time.
The three African lions are likely to move from Newquay Zoo in Cornwall to Paignton Zoo in Devon in the spring of 2022, the Wild Planet Trust said.
The decision was based on the providing "the best possible care " to the animals, the charity said.
He described the developments as "exciting " and said they would be replaced by a new exhibition.

In a statement, the Wild Planet Trust said, "The The health and welfare of our animals is always our top priority and as part of our commitment to providing the best possible care for the animals we care for, we are planning exciting new developments in our zoos.
"The pandemic of Covid-19 has been a very difficult time for the Newquay Zoo, as it has for many other local businesses, and as we come out of this we need to plan carefully for our future. "
The Trust announced that 46 employees were at risk of being made redundant in August 2020, due to the impact of the pandemic.
He said the enclosure at Paignton Zoo was "much more larger than their existing home ", and would provide the lions " much more space ".
The conservation charity added that the Newquay Zoo has " changed significantly " "over the years and, as a charity science zoo run by e, it " constantly reviewed the way we care for our animals ".
He said he understood that visitors and the Staff would miss the lions which "have become a staple of the Newquay Zoo animal collection," but added that they would be replaced with a new exhibit.
