"The idea for this story was Gotham [having] this depth of corruption and having a story ... that goes into the inner workings of the city, " Reeves said.
Reeves also mentioned how the series is going to dig into the hidden corners of corruption in Gotham, something that dates back "years" and follows a detective having a link with the pastcity trouble.
Speaking of years, the Batman spinoff series will follow the boys (and girls) in blue to GCPD in grade one. This is the first year that Batman has entered the scene. The Batman movie, meanwhile, will take place in year two.
"The idea is that we go back to the first year ", explained Reeves. "The first year is the start, it 's the first appearance of this masked vigilante [Batman] who claims to destabilize the city. "
Yet no news yet if we get a link anymore direct between the two projects, like Robert Pattinson or Jeffrey Wright's Commissioner Gordon appearing in both. But the ongoing world-building allows the myth of The Batman to take shape in much more detail - and how it affects the Man in the Streets - far more than any Bat movie before it.
