Microsoft announced today that it is adding native theme support to Microsoft Edge browser. Although themes have been available for some time on the Chrome Web Store, this new update greatly simplifies the process of refreshing the appearance of the Chrome-based browser.
Using Microsoft Edge you can now access the site du Microsoft Edge add-on and select the theme you want to install. Just click "Get " next to the theme you want and the page will apply that theme directly to the browser.
Microsoft already has about two dozen dThemes ready to use and, like MSPowerUser note, there are more than a few Xbox-related themes on offer. A later update will add the ability to users to submit their own themes and will add the ability to select a different theme color in the edge settings to customize the theme to your liking.
(Image credit: GlobalStats) Microsoft is really trying to make Edge a reality
A long time ago Microsoft had problems with the US government to monopolize the Internet withits Internet Explorer browser. Nearl ten years after being sued for antitrust violations, it still held a dominant position in the web browser market, with its main competitor being Mozilla's Firefox.
Google Chrome, like all of Google, took off as a SpaceX Super Heavy in the 2010s, and today Chrome enjoys 65% of the web browser user base according to GlobalStats . This happened almost entirely at the expense of Internet Explorer, and Microsoft has desperately wanted to get back into the navigation game with Microsoft Edge.
Since then relaunching a year ago, the new chrome-based Edge browser is slowly scrolling the chart and now sits just behind Firefox, from 8.39% to 7.43%. It's still a long way to overthrow Google Chrome, but that 's not for lack of trying.
Microsoft is maintaining its aggressive h to win Chrome and Firefox converts by adding new features to the browser, so support for new native themes is a further part of that effort. We can expect much more in the months and years to come, we are sure. There is a lot of catching up to do.
