To celebrate Minecraft 's 11th anniversary, Mojang has changed its name in Mojang Studios and unveiled a new logo.
The decision regarding the slight name change and logo update has been detailed ins a recent article by the head of creative communication at the studio Thomas Wiborgh on Official Minecraft Site :
" But why would we need to a new name and logo in the first place? Well, why not? Humans love to reinvent themselves every now and then, so it's only fitting that we give the same courtesy to a company that has been around for over a decade. say, would you still wear the outfit that perfectly shaped your style in 2009? Of course the change isn 't just to give the studio a fresh coat of paint. The post also indicates how much Mojang Studios has grown since its inception more than ten years ago: "From our humble beginnings in Stockholm, we entered the 1920s as a multi-title, multi-site company… There are also several studios around the world, all of which are part from Mojang. Which, in a stroke of genius, inspired our new name ".
Mojang Studios has also posted a trailer showing the new logo. Most interesting of all, the article and trailer reveal some of the future projects the studio is working on, with plans for a feature film and a "epic live show " as well as "playing around with ideas for new games. "
Latest upcoming release of Mojang Studios Minecraft Dungeons is slated to launch later this month on May 26th after its delay . It 's exciting to see the studio playing with new game ideas, and the new logo indicates that the studio intends to explore "New corners of the Minecraft universe".
"The game is at the heart of Mojang Studios. It's the backbone of our games, the heart of our development philosophy, "Wiborgh writes, " and even entangled in our name (which roughly translates to "gadget" in lovely old Swedish ). And now, finally, it's becauserecently planted in our new modular logo. "
Wiborgh ended the post by thanking the Mojang community, saying: " As we celebrate Minecraft's 11th anniversary, we remember that none of this would have been possible without you, our amazing community. When we talk about developing new games and finding (or inventing!) Whole new avenues of creativity, know that Minecraft and its community will always be at the center of our universe. "
