Olivia Wilde is reportedly directing and writing an untitled Marvel movie for Sony.
According to Deadline , who were the first to report on the mystery title, Wilde's Marvel film will focus on Spider-Woman, the alter ego of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse , voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, but we have yet to see the character come to life in a live-action movie.
Wilde has since confirmed the report on Instagram, posting a screenshot of the Deadline report with a spider emoji, suggesting qhat her secret Marvel project is Spider-Woman. She will write the screenplay alongside screenwriter and frequent collaborator Katie Silberman, known for Set It Up, Isn 't It Romantic and Booksmart.
Disney - which co-produces the Spider-Man films with Sony - had been working since the start of the year to secure Wilde for the high-priority project. Looks like Wilde was reluctant to make such a commitment in the middle of a busy year, but finally decided to introduce a new female superhero to the Sony Cinematic Universe of the Marvel Movies alongside Venom and of the next Morbius.
Ghostbusters and Spider-Man: Homecoming Producer Amy Pascal and Spider-Man: Far From Home Executive Producer Rachel O 'Connor are also fond of Spider-Woman.
These are the most exciting upcoming movies of 2020 , while we do not expectsee so patiently what Wilde has up his sleeve.
