Sony wrote the details of Function PS5 voice chat recording , which allows you to send audio clips to moderators to report bad player behavior. We discovered this feature after PS4 users unexpectedly received messages warning them that their voicecould be recorded.
In a new blog post PlayStation Blog , Sony director Catherine Jensen gave a few more details about the next PS5 feature. Essentially, PS5 gamers will be able to record up to 40 seconds of audio from a conversation with another player to use as evidence that they have broken the code of conduct. PS5 players will be playing online games with PS4 players, Sony has found it necessary to make PS4 players aware of the new reporting tool in advance.
PS5 will allow you to rewind up to five minutes to captureer the point in a conversation where things went south. Harassment reports can contain up to 20 seconds of conversation between players, with an additional 20 seconds reserving the primary offense.
Jensen has also made it clear that the recording feature will only be used by other players, and not by Sony itself. "Please note that this feature will not actively monitor or eavesdrop on your conversations - ever - and it is strictly for reporting online abuse or harassment. "
Sony also expresses its regret for the confusion caused by the PS4 pop-up. "We haven't clearly communicated this feature or explained why we have introduced it, and we apologize for it, " Jensen wrote.
