If you don 't have still failed to buy an elusive PS5 for yourself or a parent, then you could finally have a shot. Sony has launched a website that allowst for users to express their interest in purchasing a PlayStation 5 console during the holiday season.
Spotted by Twitter user Nibellion, website reads: " This upcoming holiday season we will have a limited amount of PS5 consoles available to customers in the US. United to buy direct from PlayStation. "
The promotion appears to be open to US buyers only, who must have an existing PlayStation Network ID to log into the website to express interest. The FAQ section of the page states that "selection is based on past interests and PlayStation activities, " implying that people who have purchased PlayStation products in the past are more likely to be selected.
The website says that if you've been selected, invitations will start rolling out in November 2021, likely just before Black Friday 2021 which takes place from November 26th.
Invitations will be sent via email, containing instructions on how to use your invitation to purchase a PS5 console (or the PS5 Digital Edition ) as well as attachments like DualSense and controllers Pulse 3D wireless headphones .
Even though selected you, Sony points out that there is always a possibility that their PS5 pool will sell out before all invites have been used up, so we recommend that you keep a watchful eye on your inbox in November if you have manifested a interest.
As Black Friday looms, PS5 consoles are no doubt in the minds of thousands of consumers. PS5 offers are susceptibles to be very thin in the field this Black Friday outside of the bundle - thanks to the continued scarcity of Sony's current generation system - so we'd say you have nothing to lose by registering your interest above, provided you meet the entry requirements and, of course, can afford to buy a PS5.
This is not the first time that Sony has a similar promotion to this one, with similar invite-only sessions spread throughout the year since the release of the PS5, including this one where only existing PS5 owners were eligible to purchase another PS5.
We're happy to see Sony rolling out some sort of olive branch before Black Friday 2021, at least for US buyers. We of course love to see similar promotions coming up inregions around the world, but at least some gamers in the US can hopefully beat the Black Friday rush to score a PS5 in time for the holidays.
