AMD has responded to reports of USB connectivity issues with motherboards equipped with its 500 series chipset and is asking the user community to help it troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
User complaints about issues with some 500 series motherboards have appeared on community sites such as Reddit in recent months.
The cause of the problem is unknown, but users of 500 series motherboards have reported that their USB devices such as mice, keyboards and microphones will sporadically lose connection, with VR headsets apparently the most affected . It was initially suspected of only selecting The Gigabyte Aorus cards were at fault , but similar issues have since been reported with Asus ROG hardware as well.
AMD is on the case
AMD has now made an official statement about this via the r / AMD subreddit, acknowledging issues and asking for feedback and support from the community during their investigation. AMD is aware of reports that a small number of users are experiencing intermittent USB connectivity issues on the chipsets of the 500 series. We have analyzed the root cause and for now we would like to ask the community for help with a small selection of additional hardware configurations. Over the next few days, some r / Amd users may be contacted directly by an AMD representative (u / AMDOfficial) through Reddit's PM system with a request for additional information.
This request may include detailed hardware configurationses, steps to reproduce the issue, specific logs, and other relevant system information to verify our development efforts. We'll provide an update when we have more details to share. Customers experiencing issues are always encouraged to raise a service request online with AMD Customer Support; this allows us to find correlations and compare scores between support requests.
