Update : The Fitbit app was down today and the company acknowledged the outage that prevented users from syncing data from their wristband to activity with the application.
"The Fitbit app is having issues " a Fitbit spokesperson told TechRadar. "We are actively working to resolve it and will keep you posted as we learn more.
Echoing this statement is a message of hope at the top of the app Fitbit claiming the company is working on a fix. With fewer Down Detector queries, it seems people are starting to walk again and look less into why Fitbit is down.
History previous ...
The application Fitbit has been down for five and a half hour so far,Users can not view their sleep, heart rate and activity statistics, or send messages to their contacts. Fitbit Premium users cannot access workouts and mindfulness sessions, and those who log out of the app to try to resolve the issue cannot log back in.
The company is aware of the problem and says it is currently working on a fix, but there is no timeline at this time. We reached out to Fitbit for comment.
DownDetector shows that users around the world started reporting issues at 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. EST), when the application has started not connecting to Fitbit's servers.

Fitbit devices will also not be able to receive firmware updates until the issue is resolved. These include the new application oxygen saturation blood for Fitbit Charge 4 , which is expected to roll out over the next few days.
Fitbit acknowledged the outage on its Twitter account and said it is working on a solution.
The problem does not seem to be universal however; some owners of smart scales Fitbit have reported that they cannot sync their weight and body composition data, but TechRadar's home editor is able to use the application with his scale as usual.
What should you do?
For now, all you can do is wait. Do not reinstall the app or unlink your watch - although this is often recommended as a way to troubleshoot issues, its particular issue is on the server side, not your phone, and you will not be able to reconnect to the watch. 'app or reconnect your device until it is resolved.
Although the outage is annoying, it shouldn't cause any problems in the longer term. Your data may not be synchronized with the app at the moment, but it is not lost; it will always be stored on your fit trackerness or your smart scale, and will be uploaded to the app once the Fitbit servers are back online. When this happens, you can expect your stats to sync with third-party services like Strava as well.
