What is Tesla doing with the two-wheel drive version of its SUV? The Model Y Standard version has once again disappeared from the manufacturer's catalog.
The commercial policy of the leader in electric cars is still surprising. One month after launching a Standard Autonomy version of its Model Y, the most affordable for this SUV , Tesla is already withdrawing it from sale. This change has of course taken place on the manufacturer's American configurator, the Model Y is still not sold in France. Now, this one displays two versions of the car the" Grande Autonomie "and" Performance "at, respectively 48 990 and 60,990 euros (or 63,000 and 70,000 euros in France).
From the price drop to the disappearance
The disappearance of the more affordable version of the Model Y is all the more surprising given that Tesla slightly changed its price just a few days ago by subtracting $ 2,000 from the initial price ($ 39,990 versus $ 41,990).

In general, Tesla seems to have difficulty positioning, or even assuming, this two-wheel drive version of its SUV. This was part of the first versions announced at l ' formalizationion of the Model Y before disappearing for the first time. Indeed, Elon Musk then mentioned a somewhat limited range compared to other vehicles in the brand's catalog (only 392 km). However, this version was still offered for sale. According to observers of the brand, the most likely hypothesis would be that Tesla announces in the coming weeks a Standard Plus version of the Model Y, like what it already offers on the Model 3. The autonomy could then exceed the 400 km, which is a much more respectable value for a manufacturer that prides itself on excelling on this point. As for the French version of the Model Y, it should be available in the second half of this year.
