Some users of the iOS version of Twitter now have the option to say whether or not they find an answer relevant. The social network wants to teach its algorithm not to put forward bad content. One of the things that the Covid-19 pandemic has confirmed is the total approximation of the Twitter algorithm.Often accused of highlighting conspiratorial content or creating toxic debates between users, Twitter has all but succeeded in its mission of information. The leaders of the social network are aware of this but never really have managed to act, which tends to annoy users. To improve its algorithm, Twitter is banking on its iOS users. The social network will allow a number of them to indicate whether a tweet is relevant or, on the contrary, if it does not deserve to be read. Twitter specifies that this is an experiment and that down votes, which could be likened to Dislike buttons, will not be visible to other users. Only the Twitter algorithm will read them. Three interfaces tested This test, which greatly amuses the Reddit teams who have always offered a similar system (see tweet belowessus), will take three different forms. Some will only see an extra Downvote button, others will see an Upvote button instead of the heart and a Downvote button while a final group of users will see I like and I do not like . The fact that Twitter is wondering about three different interfaces may suggest that the company is considering making this algorithmic test a feature in the future. The social network is surely wondering about the most relevant interface for its voting system. Also to discover in video: Twitter has not said what percentage of iOS users are affected by this test. Usually, the social network tends to test functions for several months beforeoptionally launch them for all users.
