Improving the performance of our plugins is always on our radar. Sometimes we doBig change sounds that improve performance and other times they are small. But, as they say, from the little acorn grows the mighty oak. For Yoast SEO 15.9, we have chosen two changes that may not seem like huge, but have an effect on overall performance.
On the one hand, we are limiting the database queries for homepage indexing. Since a homepage usually doesn't change often, we don't need to retrieve it all the time. This registers a request. Second, in the "redirects " section of Yoast SEO Premium , we've changed the order in which we load a piece of code. This simple fix prevents two additional requests that are not needed on every page load.

A few weeks ago, we have updated our Video SEO plugin . We cleaned up the UX and added a new way to handle YouTube videos. You can now tell the plugin to load YouTube videos only after a user interacts with them. This prevents the page load heavy JavaScript that might not be needed - thus the page loads quickly.
In Video SEO 13.7 we added another cool feature to align with Yoast SEO. video now works in our Elementor integration . Elementor users can now optimize theers videos transparently and work on their SEO video !
