Manchester United are in advanced talks with Ralf Rangnick to become their interim manager until the end of the season. Rangnick, former head coach of clubs like RB Leipzig and Schalke , is responsible for sports and development of the Lokomotiv Moscow. United continue negotiations with Lokomotiv, where the German signed a three-year contract in July. Rangnick will only accept the job if he guarantees a consulting contract from May to 2024 or 2025, and United are believed to have agreed to that condition. United spoke to Rangnick on Monday and had talks with other candidates, including former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde. The club said during Ole Gunnar Solskjær's sacking last Sunday that they would seek a temporary manager for the remainder of this campaign before making a longer-term date. Rangnick has not worked as a manager since he occupied the fort in Leipzig in the 2018-19 season while the club awaited Julian Nagelsmann. He had previously been head coach there before becoming athletic director in 2016. United will face Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, then take on Arsenal at Old Trafford on Thursday.
