Speedway - Overview
Speedway is a motorcycle racing sport which is very challenging and adventurous. Racing tracks are oval shaped dirt tracks. Motorcycles are built like some trail bikes which are covered by all of the essential components. They start with a very light alloy steel frame and comfort the rider with very less front suspension and no rear suspension.
Six pilots face each other wheel against wheel in this Motorcycle racing. All the bikers start from the same position and compete against each other to be the first to cross the finish line. Viewers can clearly see the track from the speedway and it is quite clear which rider is leading and riding.
The date and place where the game started is not known but there is evidence to show that the speedway race started before WWI The first meeting for speedway racing was held in the UK on April 9, 1928 to printroduce bikes without brakes. These bikes had wide, rounded turns on loose dirt.
Glasgow's Olympic Stadium, Nelson, witnessed the first Proto Speedway on April 9, 1928. Speedway races were previously held on well-constructed tracks. In Australia the tracks ranged from ½ mile showground tracks which are close to 520m like the Claremont Speedway in Perth and 509m like the Sydney Showground.
Most European countries participate in speedway race. The FIM authorizes the governing bodies of each country to operate league systems. The league system is accompanied by one or more cup events in most countries. Below is the list of countries that actively participate in Speedway races.
The International Speedway Championship is held every year in different nations. Some of the countries participating in the speedway are USA, Finlande, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, P oland, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Australia and Bulgaria.
