Pittsburgh Steelers will have the greatest strength schedule for any NFL team during the 2021 season. However, the last game of this season could be the most important.
The Steelers visit the Baltimore Ravens on January 9 of Week 18 of an NFL schedule that has been extended by one game and one week.
This game at M&T Bank Stadium could mark the end of an era for the Steelers. It won't be surprising that this is Ben Roethlisberger's last game as Pittsburgh quarterback.
And that would be fitting because the Ravens have been the Steelers' fiercest rival throughout Roet's 17-year careerhlisberger.
Roethlisberger has been the Steelers starter since week three of his rookie season in 2004. Since then, he has started 253 regular season and playoff games combined while leading Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl titles. and 10 playoffs. berths.
Although Roethlisberger did not officially announce his retirement at the end of the season, he was forced to take a significant pay cut to return for 2021. He is also 39 years old and not quite two years after major elbow surgery.
So the writing seems on the wall that the Big Ben era will soon end despite the Steelers not having a sure-fire replacement for Roethlisberger on their roster .
Although the Steelers won AFC North last season, they are lawThey won't be stranded to return to the playoffs in 2021. So their season could definitely end this afternoon in Baltimore.
The Steelers collapsed after an 11-0 start in 2020. They lost four of their last five regular-season games, then were beaten by the Cleveland Browns at home in a playoff game of the AFC wild card as Roethlisberger threw four interceptions.
Roethlisberger will have a difficult schedule to navigate as nine of the 17 games will be against teams that won at least 11 games during the regular season last year. Based on 2020 regular season records, the Steelers will have the toughest schedule as their opponents have compiled a .574 winning percentage.
The Steelers also end the season against four teams that made it to the AFC playoffs in 2020. They host the Tennessee Titansin Week 14, followed by a visit to the Kansas Chiefs, a home game against the Browns and the game in Baltimore.
The Steelers have a tough first game as they visit the Buffalo Bills in September 12. The Bills went to the AFC Championship game last year before losing to the Chiefs.
The Steelers also face last year's NFC runner-up in Week 4 when they head off to take on the Green Bay Packers.
Pittsburgh's home opener is on September 19 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Despite the tough end to last season, the Steelers are still viewed as a good draw by TV channels. Pittsburgh will play five prime-time games.
They will make two Sunday Night Football appearances in Week 6 at home against the Seattle Seahawks and at Los AngelesChargers in Week 11. The Steelers will also be home for two games on Monday night, facing the Chicago Bears in Week 9 and the Browns in Week 17. In Week 14, Pittsburgh will play for the Vikings in Week 11. Minnesota on a Thursday night.
The Steelers also have home games against the Cincinnati Bengals (Week 3), Denver Broncos (Week 5), Detroit Lions (Week 10) and Baltimore Ravens (Week 13) ) and road games against the Browns (week 8) and Bengals (week 12).
