The rescuers in New York brought a cow to try to attract a bull that s ' ran away from a farm earlier this week where he was awaiting slaughter.
Suffolk County Police said the bull passed a fence at Manorville Farm Tuesday morning in Mastic, on Long Island in eastern New York, and has still not been found, Newsday reported.
The bull was first spotted around 8:30 am Tuesday at Putty by some surprised residents.
The animal, weighing 1,500 lbs, was sighted in the yards of several homes on Tuesday. Social media users shared sightingsof the bull throughout the day, the newspaper said.
Police and other animal rescue agencies are still trying to capture him.
"We are riding here with lassos, and we are just trying to get him before any accident, before any damage is done to him or to someone else, "Frank Floridia of the Strong Island Animal Rescue group.
Another group, Long Island Orchestrating for Nature, said 'They had a "tranquilizer gun ready to secure it ".
But this group was also trying something potentially more powerful: a cow.
Night vision video of the Tuesday night broadcasts of crews when they found the bull but were unable to secure it in the dark.
They plan to set up a bait station on Thursday morning. Once captured, the tthe bull will be taken to a sanctuary in New Jersey, CBS reported .
