WASHINGTON, July 22 (Hfrance.fr) - The US Department of Justice is officially launching a new effort this week to crack down on gun trafficking, in a strategy that involves the creation of five Strike forces who will join forces with local law enforcement to disrupt criminals selling weapons used in crimes.
Strike forces, which were first announced in June , will be concentrated in " major traffic corridors d 'weapons "including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, DC
Department of Justice officials said Wednesday during of a call with reporters that the plan involved a "long-term coordinated multi-jurisdictional strategy " to disrupt traffic patterns.

"This new approach that links law enforcement and policeocureurs and places where violence occurs with the police forces and the prosecutors of the jurisdictions where the firearms come from widens our field of action to ensure a global and coordinated response in fields ", a the official added.
The Justice Department has also said that federal law enforcement is stepping up its efforts in other ways as well.
For example, the US Marshals Service recently investigated state and local authorities to recover fugitives wanted for state crimes such as murder, aggravated assault and rape.
Since May 31, more than 700 fugitives have been arrested, 361 of whom were wanted for murder, the official said. Report by Sarah N. Lynch; Edited by Peter Cooney
